“I had a choice at that time,” she shared. “Was I going to use this platform for good, or was I going to stay upset, mad, and sad?”

Just weeks after completing treatment, Amy was asked to speak at a large recovery event. Standing in front of hundreds, her experience still fresh and raw, she delivered a message that resonated deeply. The response—a standing ovation—was more than applause. It was a moment of realization.

On May 14, Amy will take the stage as a featured speaker at the UFAM Rally, where she will share her expungement story—another chapter of her journey that speaks to second chances, justice, and rebuilding a life in recovery.

Her voice in spaces like UFAM is critical. It brings humanity to policy conversations and reminds audiences that recovery is not just possible, it’s happening every day.

One of the most meaningful parts of Amy’s journey is what happens after the initial conversation.

“It’s nice to hear their story later… how it helped, and now they’re in recovery,” she said.

Mr. Goldberg has been in practice for over 29 years and is co-owner of River’s Bend PC. He treats adults with substance use and mental health issues through individual, family, and group therapy.
