Celebrating Excellence in Psychiatry: Dr. Saba Maroof Named a 2025 Top Doc

At River’s Bend, we’re proud to work alongside some of the most dedicated and skilled professionals in behavioral healthcare, and today, we are honored to celebrate one of our own. Dr. Saba Maroof, board-certified psychiatrist and valued collaborator at River’s Bend, has been named a 2025 Top Doc by Hour Detroit Magazine.

This recognition, awarded through a peer-nominated process conducted by Professional Research Services (PRS), reflects Dr. Maroof’s strong reputation among fellow physicians across Southeast Michigan. Her inclusion in this year’s list is a testament to the impact she has made in the psychiatric field and the lives of her patients.

Dr. Maroof has worked with River’s Bend on a part-time basis since 2015, seeing clients one day a week in our outpatient setting. The value she brings to our clients and care teams is immeasurable. Her thoughtful, collaborative approach supports our mission to provide dignified, evidence-based treatment for individuals across the lifespan.

What makes Dr. Maroof’s work especially impactful is her ability to bridge psychiatry with a compassionate, whole-person approach to care. She works with children, adolescents, and adults, and has cultivated a particular interest in simplifying complex medication regimens while maintaining effective treatment outcomes. Her specialties include managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, and women’s mental health; areas that closely align with many of the challenges our clients face when entering intensive outpatient care.

Clients who work with Dr. Maroof at River’s Bend often comment on her warmth, clarity, and ability to explain treatment plans in a way that feels empowering, not overwhelming. Her input helps shape personalized psychiatric support for individuals in our mental health and substance use programs—many of whom are navigating both emotional and medical complexity.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Maroof is a dedicated educator and advocate. She regularly lectures medical students and residents on vital topics such as mood and eating disorders, ADHD, cultural competence, and the impact of technology on mental health. She is also active in faith-based community outreach, helping to reduce stigma and raise awareness about mental illness in underserved populations.

We are grateful that Dr. Maroof shares her time and expertise with our clients at River’s Bend, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to her on this well-deserved honor. While she works across multiple clinical settings in Metro Detroit, her impact here is tangible. We are proud to have a provider of her caliber as part of our extended care team.

The Top Docs list, as published by Hour Detroit, is not just a reflection of credentials, it’s about trust. These awards are based on nominations from physicians who recognize exceptional care in their colleagues. After nominations are collected, PRS verifies credentials and reviews any infractions through applicable boards and rating agencies before finalizing the list. Hour Detroit itself plays no role in the selection process.

To be recognized by peers in such a rigorous process speaks volumes about Dr. Maroof’s professionalism, clinical excellence, and compassionate presence.

At River’s Bend, we believe that healing is deeply personal—and that recovery is best supported by teams who care beyond the diagnosis. Dr. Maroof exemplifies this belief, and we are honored to have her contribute to the recovery journeys of our clients.

Congratulations again to Dr. Maroof on being named a 2025 Top Doc. We celebrate you—not just for this accolade, but for the steady, thoughtful care you provide each week.
